Who We Are
WomenShine is a group of caring Albuquerque women who recognize the needs that exist in our community. We want to help, but our lives are busy, and the need feels so overwhelming it’s hard to know where to start. So we’re finally taking action in whatever small ways we can to make a difference.
And we’re doing it together.
What We Do
Starting in July 2025, we will meet once a month for a couple of hours to help a local nonprofit or meet a need in our community. We’re making it easy for busy, caring women to have an impact while enjoying some great “girl time.” In essence —
We’re making “doing good” doable. And we’re building our own supportive community in the process.
Why We Do It
Women are the change makers and nurturers of the world. Even the smallest action within the context of our busy lives can make a big difference. Our community, our city, our state, our nation, and our world need us.
If we don’t help, who will?
WE’RE KICKING OFF 2026 WITH A SPA PARTY AND FUNDRAISER!
Our January Meetup is about caring for ourselves as we care for our community. On Thursday, January 29th, we will be meeting at Botanica Skin and Brow Studio (owned by WomenShine member Kristin Near.) Kristin and her staff will offer a variety of mini-services for only $20 each, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to WomenShine to help our efforts! In addition to these special spa services we’ll of course have food and drinks, and great time to catch up with each other.
**The event will be from 4pm - 7pm, to give more people the opportunity to enjoy the spa services. There will be a sign-up sheet, so when you arrive, please sign up for a time slot for the service(s) you would like. If you can’t come until later, no problem! We’ll be there, so just come when you can!
AND OF COURSE, WE’RE STILL DOING GOOD…
**We will also be collecting new and gently used coats, hats, gloves, socks, etc. for the nonprofit Friends Feeding Friends. This organization helps the homeless in our community by providing food and other basic needs (like warm clothing). So please bring whatever you can that can help keep these folks warm during the winter months. They are also in need of new women’s underwear, men’s boxers, and socks for women and men.
*As always, our Meetup is no charge for official WomenShine members. For all others it’s $10 at the door, payable by cash, Venmo, or PayPal. Please invite all of the women you know to this special event, and be sure to RSVP to: kristi@womenshineusa.com
