Who We Are

WomenShine is a group of caring Albuquerque women who recognize the needs that exist in our community. We want to help, but our lives are busy, and the need feels so overwhelming it’s hard to know where to start. So we’re finally taking action in whatever small ways we can to make a difference.

And we’re doing it together.

What We Do

Starting in July 2025, we will meet once a month for a couple of hours to help a local nonprofit or meet a need in our community. We’re making it easy for busy, caring women to have an impact while enjoying some great “girl time.” In essence —

We’re making “doing good” doable. And we’re building our own supportive community in the process.

Why We Do It

Women are the change makers and nurturers of the world. Even the smallest action within the context of our busy lives can make a big difference. Our community, our city, our state, our nation, and our world need us.

If we don’t help, who will?

THIS CHRISTMAS WILL BE TOUGH FOR SOME PRECIOUS KIDS IN OUR CITY. HELP US MAKE IT A LITTLE BRIGHTER.

For our November Meetup next week on 11/18, we’re partnering with NM Child First Network to provide Christmas stockings for children who will be living in CYFD offices over the holidays. There is a shortage of foster homes in New Mexico. As a result, children who come into CYFD care don’t always have a foster home to go to, so they end up staying in CYFD offices until a placement can be found.

We’re putting together a total of 20 stockings to brighten their holidays:

4 for Girls age 12 and under

4 for Boys age 12 and under

4 for Teen Girls

4 for Teen Boys

4 for CYFD Staff staying with these children for the holidays

*We need your help to fill these stockings with goodies and love! We’ve created a registry of items that are appropriate for these ages and will fit in the stockings (the opening is 8 inches wide.) If you are able to contribute you will make a huge difference! If you’d like to get stuffers elsewhere, please let Kristi know what you are providing. What an amazing September WomenShine Meetup!

For our September Meetup, we partnered with the Barrett House — a local shelter for homeless women and children — to provide some basic needs for the residents there. These women have been through hell and ended up homeless, and they’re trying to get back on their feet and sustain themselves. Barrett House is an incredible place that provides shelter, safety, and resources (like job search and housing assistance) to help them do just that.

We put together 20 care bags for these ladies, filled with things like shampoo, conditioner, shave gel, tampons, etc. And we threw in special extras like glittery eye shadow, because every woman needs some sparkle! These bags will make a big difference for these women and lift their spirits — which is what WomenShine is all about.
