Who We Are
WomenShine is a group of caring Albuquerque women who recognize the needs that exist in our community. We want to help, but our lives are busy, and the need feels so overwhelming it’s hard to know where to start. So we’re finally taking action in whatever small ways we can to make a difference.
And we’re doing it together.
What We Do
Starting in July 2025, we will meet once a month for a couple of hours to help a local nonprofit or meet a need in our community. We’re making it easy for busy, caring women to have an impact while enjoying some great “girl time.” In essence —
We’re making “doing good” doable. And we’re building our own supportive community in the process.
Why We Do It
Women are the change makers and nurturers of the world. Even the smallest action within the context of our busy lives can make a big difference. Our community, our city, our state, our nation, and our world need us.
If we don’t help, who will?
This is the premiere event for WomenShine! It’s a celebration AND a fundraiser to help our efforts.

THIS AUGUST, WE’RE SENDING KIDS BACK TO SCHOOL IN STYLE!
IT’S BACK TO SCHOOL TIME! For many kids, the start of the new school year is exciting. They’re looking forward to seeing their friends after summer break, and picking out new backpacks and back to school clothes. But for a lot of children in our community, it is a stressful time. Their families are struggling. They don’t have the means to buy needed school supplies, much less any new clothes as they start the school year.
That’s why this month, WomenShine is partnering with Locker #505, an organization that helps students get what they need to succeed at school, with dignity and joy. Locker #505 accepts new and very gently used clothing and other supplies. They set up everything like an actual store, and take referrals from social workers, school counselors, doctors, etc. of students who need new school clothes. They set up a personal “shopping” experience for these kids to come and pick out several outfits that they can look and feel good in at school, so they can focus more on learning.
**Locker #505 is running low on certain items and needs our help. Please join us for our WomenShine Meetup on Thursday, August 27th from 5:30pm - 7:30pm and bring what you can from this list:
Boys’ Size 6 and 8 jeans
Boys’ Size 16 sweatpants and shirts/sleeveless shirts
Men’s Size 11.5 shoes
Men’s Size Med and XL sweatpants
Men’s Size Small and Medium underwear
Girls’ Size 14, 16, and 18 short-sleeved shirts
Girls’ Size 16 and 18 jeans
Women’s Size 5 underwear
Anything you can provide will be so appreciated and make a big difference to a child in need!

July was our one-year anniversary of WomenShine, so we HAD to CELEBRATE!!
One year ago, in July 2025, we had our very first WomenShine Meetup! And we’ve been gathering to do good ever since! So our July Meetup last month OF COURSE was a celebration!
It was so wonderful to recognize that WomenShine has reached this special milestone. And it wouldn’t have happened without the AWESOME women who have shown up and opened their hearts to help our community, and to support and connect with each other. Each month we have new faces join us, and we have a growing group of “official members.” HUGE THANKS to everyone who has made our first year a success!
AND YES, WE THREW A PARTY, BUT WE STILL DID GOOD!
Also at our July Meetup we partnered with United Way of North Central New Mexico to stock up their snack pantry! They provide critical services to victims of domestic violence and SA, including children. And they also provide comfort via snacks. Now they’ve got a good supply to offer to those who enter their doors.
